Associate Minister:  Youth and Young Adults

The Church of Christ in Point, TX (about 60 miles east of Dallas), is a traditional acapella congregation with average attendance of 70.  We want to spread the gospel in our community, especially to teens, young adults, and the unchurched.  We are looking for an associate/youth minister to work together with us in this effort.

While some preaching is involved, our associate minister’s primary skills need to be effectively communicating Christ to teens and young adults, and in planning activities to help accomplish this.  The ideal candidate will have some successful background in working with and motivating youth to engage in worship and service. Experience working at youth summer camps, and directing youth activities will be most helpful.  Having a college degree or having completed preacher school is a plus, but not necessary.  Basic skills, desire, and willingness to work with a team of 3 elders, 5 deacons, and our senior minister is a must.

Church/Community Background: Our members come mostly from Point—population 827, nearby Emory—population 1,239, and the remaining Lake Country of Rains County—with a spread out population of 11,035.   We are located between the big fishing areas of Lake Tawakoni and Lake Fork.  It is both a rural East Texas community and a retirement/weekend getaway community from the Dallas area.

The local school system, Rains ISD, is a high academic quality 4A district that includes nearly all of Rains County.  Community relations are important to us: members of our congregation have served as teachers, school board members, city and county officials, and volunteers.  Our youth minister and his family will be expected to live in and attend community and school events, being active representatives of our congregation.

Our church building is new and modern, our members are warm, welcoming, and, with the enthusiastic backing of our elders, searching to be innovative and industrious in bringing Christ to the unchurched of all ages in our community.
